Accountants

Accountants process personal and confidential information.  Whether it is for completing personal tax returns, processing client payrolls, or providing tax planning advice, there is a lot of personal information that would cause harm to the client if it was compromised.

This means that accountants are a HIGH RISK sector for data protection.

Protecting your clients data

AccountantChartered Accountants have a duty to protect their clients data. You have a legal obligation to protect information under the Data Protection Act, as well as having to comply with rules from their institute or regulatory body. The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) now has the right to impose fines of up to £500,000 for breaches of the Data Protection Act. In your engagement letters you will almost certainly state that you comply with the Data Protection Act, but do you know what that means?

We understand how accountants work

Because of this PEM IT Services provides specialist help and support to accountants to ensure compliance.  In particular our work has helped secure personal tax departments (including HMRC filing), protect payroll bureaux (and secured exchange of data with clients) and given staff home working capability with secure remote access.

To find out more please contact PEM IT Services on 01223 728 205.  We will help answer any queries you have and help you ensure you protect your (and your clients') data.
